How our HRT prescription works

You’ll start by completing a short online questionnaire that helps us understand your symptoms, medical history and what you’re hoping to improve.

A GP then reviews your answers with care and makes sure the treatment you’ve chosen is safe and suitable for you. If we need more details, we’ll let you know.

Once your prescription is approved, we’ll send you a payment link, and your prescription will be delivered to your door. Your secure account gives you clear guidance on how to take it and what to expect as your body adjusts.

Types of HRT prescriptions we offer

HRT works by replacing the hormones that your body naturally produces less of as you go through menopause. This can help ease symptoms like hot flushes, night sweats, low mood, brain fog and disrupted sleep.

The type of HRT that’s best for you depends on several factors, including whether you’ve had a hysterectomy (your womb surgically removed), what stage of menopause you’re at, and what feels right for you day to day. Your GP will review your needs to make sure we provide the right type of HRT for you.

Tablets, patches and gels

HRT comes in different forms, and the best one often comes down to what fits your lifestyle and symptoms. For example, oestrogen gels may be beneficial if you have vaginal dryness. Some people prefer patches or gels that are absorbed through the skin, while others like the simplicity of taking a daily tablet. Your GP can guide you if one option’s likely to suit you better than another.

Vaginal pessaries, creams and rings

Some menopause symptoms affect the vagina or bladder, such as vaginal dryness, discomfort or needing to pass urine more often. Vaginal oestrogen can help by delivering treatment directly to the area where it’s needed. These treatments come as pessaries, creams or a vaginal ring and use a low dose of oestrogen. They work locally rather than throughout the body, which can make them a good option if these are your main symptoms. Your GP will review your answers and help decide whether this type of treatment is right for you.

Oestrogen-only treatment

Oestrogen-only HRT is usually recommended if you’ve had a hysterectomy, because you don’t need progesterone to protect the lining of your womb. It replaces the oestrogen that your body produces less of during menopause.

Combined treatment

If you haven’t had your womb removed, you’ll need both oestrogen and progesterone. The progesterone helps protect the lining of your womb (oestrogen on its own causes the womb lining to thicken, increasing your risk of womb cancer).
